About Me

Hi! I’m Hazel Norton (she/her), a student at Champlain College. I’m double-majoring in Game Design and Applied Mathematics.

As you might expect from someone who’s also studying math, I tend to focus in on the numbers when I make games. I particularly enjoy playtesting (both testing games myself and operating tests with others), analyzing playtest data, fine-tuning game balance, and documenting my design processes. In my student projects, I’ve also handled systems design, level design, interaction design, and a good deal of programming and implementation.

I also enjoy using my game design knowledge to analyze the games I play. As a writing challenge for myself, every time I play a new game, I try to write a mini-review within only 100 words. If that sounds interesting, I post them all on my blog here, along with other pieces of critical analysis on games and other media.

When I’m away from games, I spend my time on creative writing, conlanging, and dance. I enjoy being creative and expressive in all things I do, but I’ve also been fascinated with math and science throughout my life, and I find that my math studies help keep me grounded in all other aspects of my life.
